I provide creative picture research, working with picture libraries, museums, archives, fine art galleries, private collections and public domain resources. Commissioning photographers for a wide range of clients has created a large international data base of independent photographers. I enjoy working closely with art directors and editors and directly with authors of specialist books, researching images or advising on budgets, copyright sources and citations. I negotiate fees working within stated budgets, provide licensing and where needed images with third party licensing, copyright clearances with full credit information and citations.

I studied photography and film at the London College of Printing, then began working as a picture researcher at the Sunday Times Magazine in the late 1980’s, subsequently researching archives for the British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound magazine, BBC World Service and the World Economic Forum magazines. In the late 90’s I moved into consumer publications as a commissioning picture editor and director, launching RED magazine followed by Tatler at Condé Nast.

Since 2010 I have worked as a freelance picture researcher and commissioning photography editor. Clients include Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Esterson Associates for EYE, Pulp, Kings College Magazine, Fedrigoni Papers, Nestle, RA, Architects Journal, and History Today. I was part of the launch team for PORT magazine and curated photography for the critically acclaimed literary and photography publication The Drawbridge. I also work directly with authors.

I am a volunteer photographer for the Woodland Trust, and am making a long term photography project of Hainault Forest using alternative photography techniques.
